One of the best things about summer is the variety of different farmers markets that pop up around the city!

Every year more and more Torontonians are choosing farmers' markets for nature's best produce, where the food is fresh, high in quality and the next best thing to harvesting it yourself.

Here are our picks for our fave farmer's markets this summer in Toronto:


Dufferin Grove Organic Farmers' Market
Thursdays - Open Year Round

Every Thursday from 3:00pm until 7:00pm shoppers can check out the Dufferin Grove Organic Farmers Market. It's definitely one of our faves in the city! This summer the market has been hopping as local farmers and city-based food producers bring in an amazing variety of products each week. Think every imaginable fresh veggie you can. Of course the best thing about this farmers market is it is open year round! Through the summer months shopper can head right to the park area, through the fall on the skating rink pad and then inside the rink buildings throughout the winter months.

East Lynn Park Farmers' Market

Bring your own bag and check out this certified farmers market just south of the Danforth every Thursday from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. The market prides itself on selling only what they produce right there in East Lynn park. Everything from local fruits and veggies, to Angus beef and organic eggs.

East York Farmers' Market
May 19 - November, 2009

Another great farmers market, this one in the north-east end of the city, is the East York Farmers' Market. Every Tuesday from 9:00am until 2:00pm you can support local farmers, enjoy delicious baked goods, savor fresh produce, and reduce your carbon footprint!

From Wednesday June 3rd to Wednesday October 14th, vendors will be set up and selling fruits, veggies, cut flowers, herbs, baked goods and many more at the Farmer's Market by City Hall. If your in the neighbourhood or on a lunch break make sure you stop by this popular farmers market every Wednesday from 8:00am to 2:30pm.

Good news for Riverdale residents! The Riverdale Farm Farmers' Market returns this summer for it's eighth season. The Market is open from 3:00pm until 7:00pm every Tuesday from May to October. Market is located in Riverdale Park West Keep your eyes open for some of TO's "celeb" chefs… Many of them frequent this popular farmers' market.

It's open rain or shine! The Sherway Farmers Market is open from 8:00am - 2:00pm every Friday until the end of October. Head to the west end of the city to the Sherway Gardens Farmers Market (in the north parking lot across from Holt Renfrew) to check out tons of fresh Ontario grown fruit, vegetables, baked bread, pies, eggs, honey, cheese and more.

Sorauren Farmers' Market
