Centre Island Beach

Many of Toronto’s waterfront parks have sand or cobble beaches for you to enjoy. Soak up the lakeside atmosphere, come for a picnic or some beach volleyball, go wading or take a dip at one of 11 designated swimming beaches. From the first week of June to Labour Day, water quality is tested daily and lifeguards are present from 11:30am to 6:30pm… These are Toronto’s beaches!

1 of 11: Centre Island Beach
Location: Toronto Island via Ferry docks at 9 Queens Quay West

Located on the south shore of Toronto Island Park, this site has been used for public bathing since 1888 and is surrounded by park amenities. It is the only Island beach protected by an offshore breakwall.

* Beach wheelchairs are available for free short-term loan at the Toronto Island (Centre Island wheelchair depot).

Look For The Blue Flag at Centre Island Beach: The Blue Flag is now flown at seven of Toronto’s swimming beaches including Centre Island. This eco-label is awarded to beaches that meet high standards for water quality, environmental management, environmental education, safety and services.
