From literary to slam, formal to experimental, read, spoken, and performed, the Art Bar is open to all forms of poetry. Every Tuesday night at 8:00pm at Clinton’s on Bloor Street West.

Each week features both emerging and established poets as guests. However, anyone from the audience is welcome to participate on the open stage, and can sign up during the first break of the evening. There are usually 10 available open mic spots. Participants are restricted to three minutes.

-Liz Zetlin is a visual artist, filmmaker and poet living in Grey County, currently serving as Owen Sound's first Poet Laureate.
-Sheri Benning is the author of two books of poetry, Earth After and Thin Moon Psalm.
-Jon Paul Fiorentino is the author of four books of poetry. His most recent book is The Theory of the Loser Class. He is also the editor of Matrix magazine and lives in Montreal.

-Peter Dale Scott, only son of Canadian poet F.R.Scott, is a former Canadian diplomat. He has published five books of poetry and three chapbooks. His most recent book is the third volume of his trilogy Seculum: Minding the Darkness.
-Betsy Struthers has published eight books of poetry, most recently Where the Night Comes Closest. A series of poems in this collection, Writing Down the Moon, was shortlisted for the 2005 CBC Literary Awards.
-Peter Richardson is the author of three books of poetry. The most recent book is Sympathy for the Couriers.

-Jason Camlot is the author of three books of poetry. The most recent book is The Debaucher.
-Iggy McGovern lives in Dublin, Ireland. His first book, King of Suburbia won both the New Writers Award and the Ireland Chair of Poetry Bursary.

-RM Vaughan is a Toronto-based writer and video artist originally from New Brunswick. His books include poetry, fiction, plays and essays.
-Marilyn Gear Pilling is the author of two collections of short fiction and three books of poetry. Recently she won 3rd prize in Prairie Fire's Creative Non-fiction category and placed in the finals for the CBC literary competition.
-Eric Miller is the author of three books of poetry. He will be celebrating his most recent poetry collection, A Day in Moss.

-Meredith Quartermain's Vancouver Walking won the BC Book Award for Poetry in 2006. Two new books are coming out this year: Matter and Nightmarker.
-Randall Maggs lives on the west coast of Newfoundland. He is the author of two books of poetry: Timely Departures and Night Work: The Sawchuk Poems.
-Diane Tucker’s first book, God on His Haunches was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Award. Her second book of poetry, Bright Scarves of Hours was published in 2007.

-Gary Geddes received the BC Lieutenant Governor's Award for literature in April 2008. He is the author of over 35 books. He will be presenting his most recent book, Falsework.
-Jennica Harper was born in North Bay and now lives in Vancouver where she works as a screenwriter and teaches at Vancouver Film School. She will be celebrating her most recent poetry book, What It Feels Like For a Girl.
-Josie Di Sciascio-Andrews is an organizer for Poetry Cafe at the Moonshine Cafe in Oakville, Ontario. Her poems have appeared in a number of journals.

-John Donlan is the author of four books of poetry. He is a winner of the Hannibal, Missouri Poetry Prize. He will be celebrating his latest book, Spirit Engine.
-Matt Rader's first book, Miraculous Hours was shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Award. He will be celebrating a new book of poetry, Living Things.
- Frank Giorno lives in Toronto and is the author of two collections of poetry: Elvis in America and Arrivederci, Plastic Covered Couch.

-Brian Bartlett has taught creative writing and literature at St. Mary's University in Halifax since 1990. Along with four chapbooks, he has published five trade volumes of poetry. His most recent book is The Watchmaker's Table.
-Ziysah is a spoken word artist and activist. She has won the Toronto and Peterborough slams and been a feature at the London Poetry Slam.
-Daniel Kolos was born in Hungary and educated in rural Pennsylvania. His most recent poetry book is titled, From One Child to Another (The Battered Silicon Dispatch Box)..

-John Weier is the author of numerous poetry books and a past president of the League of Canadian Poets. He will be celebrating his latest book, Under the Wings of Africa.
-Claire Sharpe had a selection of poems shortlisted in the 2007 CBC Literary Award competition. She will be celebrating the publication of Casual Notation of Earth-Shattering Events.
-Elizabeth Greene is the author of The Iron Shoes and her work appeared recently in the anthology Crossing Lines: Poets Who Came to Canada in the Viet Nam War Era. She is the current Ontario rep for the League of Canadian Poets.

-Mari-Lou Rowley has published six collections of poetry. She has performed her poetry across the continent. She will be touring with her seventh poetry book, Suicide Poems.
-Lawrence Hutchman was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and now lives in Edmundston NB. He is the author of numerous books of poetry starting with The Twilight Kingdom. He will be celebrating his newest book, Reading the Water.
-Andrea Jarmai was born in Budapest and now lives in Toronto. Her first trade book of poetry, Brother to Dragons, Companion to Owls, was published in 2004. In 2002 she was the winner of the Art Bar Discovery Night.

-David Clink is the Artistic Director of the Rowers Pub Reading Series and webmaster of www.poetrymachine.com, a resource for writers. He has been writing and selling poetry since 1995. He will be celebrating his first full-length collection, Eating Fruit Out of Season.
-Maurice Mierau was born in the US and grew up in Africa, the Caribbean and Saskatchewan. He is the author of Ending With Music and most recently, Fear Not. He is president of the League of Canadian Poets and lives in Winnipeg.
-Margaret Christakos has published six collections of poetry and a novel, which was shortlisted for the 2001 Trillium Award. Her poetry book, Sooner (Coach House Books), was nominated for the Pat Lowther Award. Her newest book is What Stirs.

-George Amabile holds a PhD in literature and has taught at universities since 1960. Recently retired, he currently resides in Winnipeg. His first book was Blood Ties and his most recent book is Tasting the Dark.
-Mike Spry is a graduate of the Creative Writing program at Concordia University in Montreal where he is the managing editor of Matrix Magazine and the coordinator of the Pilot Reading Series. He will be celebrating his first collection of poetry, Jack. -Robert Priest is the author of fourteen books of poetry. He is also a musician, songwriter and journalist. He will be celebrating a new book, reading the Bible backwards.

-Di Brandt has published ten books of poetry and has collaborated with artists in other media. Her awards include Canadian Authors Poetry Prize, National Magazine Silver Medal Award, McNally Robinson Book of the Year, and the Gerald Lampert Award. Her recent poetry book, Now You Care was shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize, the Trillium Book Award and the Pat Lowther Award. -Adam Sol is the author of three books of poetry. Crowd of Sounds won the 2004 Trillium Award for Poetry. He will be celebrating Jeremiah, Ohio.

-Laura Farina's first book of poetry, This Woman Alphabetical, won the 2006 Archibald Lampman Award. She currently lives in Banff, where she coordinates the Banff Centre Press.
-Afua Cooper is a scholar, author and poet. She earned a PhD in Canadian History with a focus on the Black communities of 19th century Ontario. Afua has published five books of poetry, the latest of which is Copper Woman and Other Poems.
