Sandra Bernhard

June 2008

With Pride month upon us again, what better way to kick off the city's most fabulous week long party then a spectacular cabaret evening out with the notoriously outrageous Sandra Bernhard. Incorporating song, comedy and commentary Sandra spends her time on stage piercing her audience with her sharp edged, witty and ferociously satirical humour.

Sandra Bernhard hits Massey Hall on Sunday June 22nd with her rocking and soulful Everything Bad and Beautiful Tour, and is looking and sounding better than ever. Having been in the entertainment industry for over twenty-five years Sandra has a massive collection of material to choose from, and is truly one of the most talented artists working today. Bernhard has appeared in hit films like, "The King of Comedy" and "Dinner Rush", and on hit television shows like, "Roseanne," "Alley McBeal" and "Will & Grace".

She is a published writer, with pieces that have appeared in The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Elle, Interview, Spy, and Allure magazine. Furthermore, it does not end there, Bernard is in the process of developing her forth(!) book, which like her performances, are full of rants, prose and essays. Bernhard is the walking definition for diversity in ones career and she does it well.

After already appearing on stage in her critically acclaimed Broadway smash, "I'm Still Here... Damn It!" Bernhard is no stranger to a live audience. She seems to feed off the energy that is created by her shocking delivery and content, and the reaction which is garnered from her always enthusiastic fans. She will have you riveted to your chair one minute with relevant social commentary on subject matters Bernhard is extremely passionate about, and then on the contrary, will have you falling out of your chair in fits of hysterical laughter with her brassy no hold barred humour.

Any fan of Bernhard knows what these fearless crusader is all about, however, if you are not familiar with her then this is the time to get acquainted. In the words of The New York Times, Bernhard's performance is, "An angst driven, foul-mouthed poison-laced joy ride that banks and careens frenetically through the worlds of fashion, celebrity, rock, and religion ... In her own voice, unfiltered, Bernhard is a living, breathing bonfire".
