As the Air Canada Centre get's ready for pop sensation Gwen Stefani, Justin Haley takes a look at the pop sensation...
A slightly moodier Gwen Stefani is returning to the Air Canada stage this May in support of her current release, The Sweet Escape. Escorted by her entourage of four Harajuku Girls, Stefani has undoubtedly become a Madonna for her own generation. A chameleon in her own right, Gwen owes much of her success to fearlessness and consistent reinvention.
Her audacious auteurism infects her entire body of work. From imaginative music videos and live shows to album and magazine covers to collaborations with producers and other artists (including Kanal, Linda Perry, André 3000, The Neptunes, Eve, and Akon), the star thrives in the liberation of dabbling in a plethora of artistic palettes.
The woman has been an icon for two decades now—check out her edgier No Doubt days for illustrations and examples of just how far this goddess has come. A personal favorite from the new album is "Don't Get it Twisted," which mixes circus-themed music with a punchy beat, catchy arrangements and cheeky lyrics.
Expect to see glittery costumes and trendsetting accessories: Gwen is putting her finishing touches on the 2007 L.A.M.B. collection and is sure to put on a fabulous display for her fans. With her new baby in tow and rock star husband Gavin Rossdale by her side, it seems this mother and wife flourishes in all roles of her life.
Don't miss Gwen Stefani at the Air Canada Centre Wednesday May 30, 2007.
