International Festival Of Authors

The 28th Annual
International Festival of Authors

Wednesday October 17 - Saturday October 27, 2007
Harbourfront Centre

For eleven days and nights in October, Toronto becomes the number one destination for some of the most important and talked-about authors writing today. Readings, interviews, round tables and talks with your fave authors. Plus there is always the opportunity to get your books signed and meet the authors. The perfect entertainment for fall.

This year the festival's impressive international lineup includes appearances by Isabel Allende, Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket himself), Emma Donoghue, Tracy Chevalier, the actor (now novelist) David Thewlis, Jasper Fforde, Amy Bloom, and Vendela Vida. Canadian authors in attendance include: D.R. MacDonald, Gail Anderson-Dargatz, Richard B. Wright, Will Ferguson, Elizabeth Hay, and Michael Winter.

Of course the one thing that is on everyone's lips is the headline-grabbing announcement that J.K Rowling, the world's wealthiest and most well-known author, would be making one stop in Canada this fall, and that stop would be at YoungIFOA on Tuesday October 23rd. But you can't buy tickets ... they are available only through an online sweepstake at http://www.raincoast.com or through allocation by the Ontario Library Association (OLA). Harry Potter fans from across Canada will get the chance to hear a reading from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, put questions to Ms Rowling, and to take home a signed complimentary copy of the book.
