The city of Toronto archives features rotating exhibits and presentations that focus on Toronto and its history. The Archives include original photographs, maps, letters, government papers, City Council minutes, city directories and more.

Visitors can look up any archival records in the Research Hall and explore the history of the city. There are over 1.2 million photographs, millions of pages of diaries, speeches, articles and over 5,000 maps. (The oldest item is a map from 1792)

Today the Archive has an impressive computerized storage facility and aisles of files in the record room that is all open to the public.
