Swiss diplomat Carl Lutz issued 62,000 safe conduct passports to Hungarian Jews desperate to escape the Nazis. He ensured that the building known as the “Glass House” became a centre of protection to Jews in Hungary in 1944. Five towering columns, lit internally so as to appear glass-like in their transparency, poignantly present this story of moral courage, revealing how the Glass House became an international symbol of the indestructibility of humanity during the cruelest of times.

Holocaust Education Week, the world's largest Holocaust education event begins in on November 2 and continues until November 9, 2008 with events throughout the GTA. UJA Federation’s Holocaust Centre of Toronto will present over 150 educational and cultural programs in a dynamic, thought provoking and poignant week devoted to Holocaust remembrance and education.
